Jispa is a small village located on bank of Bhaga river 20 km away from Keylong in Lahaul valley, Himachal Pradesh on Manali-Leh Highway.The village of Jispa offers numerous sightseeing opportunities for the tourists. However, to fully appreciate the beauty of Jispa, an overnight stay is necessary. Whether it is in a lodge or a tented camp, it doesn't matter. You are surrounded by picturesque views of the mist, covered mountains and clouds, both of which make the village look like a brilliantly painted portrait. What better thing to do here than soak in the dreamy scenery encompassing you. Enjoy a pleasant walk by the river or enjoy a picnic at one of the many picnicking spots around the Jispa village.
You should certainly visit the Jispa Rural Housing Museum which gives the tourists a glimpse of the way of life of the residents of Tod Valley of Lahaul district. Buy some lovely handicrafts made by local women. There is also a grocery store in the village run by an ex-serviceman by the name of Karam Singh. The village also houses several Buddhist chortens or stupas which you should visit during your time there.
Best time to visit: Its open from June to October and close rest of the year.
Where to stay: There are few hotels and guest house in Jispa. Lately lots of campsites came up giving more options to the tourist.
There are two ways to reach,
one is from Manali via Rohtang pass and other is from Leh Ladakh via Baralacha pass.
In coming time there will be another route from kargil side. BRO - Border road organization, is making another highway which will connect Darcha to kargil. From Darcha Tandi can be reached.
Weather: In summers days are hot and warm but nights are cold. In winters the place is extremely cold due to snowfall.
ATM: There is no ATM facility in Jispa, the nearest ATM is in the Keylong which is almost 23km away.
Net connectivity: There is no or limited signal connectivity in Jispa, sometime the BSNL works.
