Pang is barren landscape located between Manali and Leh on Manali-Leh Highway. It is a settlement of small tea stall camps where backpackers spend night as the tents cost cheap.
They fix one big tent with line of beds adjoining each other & with one common Indian toilet.
It is 77 km from Sarchu. The distance between Manali and pang is 299 km and Leh is 173 km. The only help on this route is Indian army. Indian Army transit camp is located at pang which is said to be The highest transit camp in the world at an elevation of 15,640 feet above sea level. The terrain is high altitude terrain, which make the Nights at Pang always difficult. Pang is cold in nights.
Pang is suitable place to take a tea coffee break from your journey and refresh your mind with utmost beauty prevailing in the region. But staying in pang is not advisable. The stay should be at Sarchu, where proper camps are available.
The rough, uneven plains on the both sides of Pang make the sights awesomely jaw-dropping. The road trip on Leh- Manali highway is dream tour for many. The beauty of the natural spectacle is untouched.
